The Philosophy of St Andrew's Nursery is rooted in the best of Early Years education.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is a framework which supports children's development in their earliest years.
The framework identifies that play underpins all development and learning for young children. Most children play spontaneously. It is through play that they develop intellectually, creatively, physically, socially and emotionally.
The framework is founded on a holistic view of the developmental growth of each child. We believe each child is an individual. Giving attention to and building on their existing skills is the starting point for providing each child with the opportunities to reach their full potential.
A Unique Child recognises that every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships is how children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and a key person.
Enabling Environments plays a key role in supporting and extending children's social development and learning within their environment. This is focused on observation, assessment and planning as well as the learning environment.
Learning and Development recognises that children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and that all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.
