The beginning of the admissions procedure will be your first visit to the school.
Please look at the Event section of this website to see the dates of our Open mornings and contact Mrs Sheila Heaney, our Admissions Secretary, to book a place.
At our Open mornings you and your daughter or son will be able to tour the school, see the pupils at work and meet key staff.
We also recommend a personal visit, either before or following an Open Morning, when you will be able to meet the Headmaster and other senior staff to discuss your child’s individual interests and needs.
When you decide to proceed you will then need to complete our application form and
pay the registration fee.
We will then arrange for your son or daughter to spend a day with us (a morning or afternoon in the Coach House Nursery). In the Junior and Senior Schools, during
this day we will assess your daughter or son in the following areas: Reading, Writing and Mathematics. For entry above Year 6 we will also ask your child to complete a practical Science activity.
We would expect a child entering St Andrew’s to be achieving broadly in line with the average for their age. If your daughter or son is significantly below this average then we will discuss with you whether St Andrew’s is the appropriate school for your child.
Following our assessment day, we will write informing you whether we are able to offer your child a place at St Andrew’s. If we do offer a place and you wish to accept you will be asked to complete an acceptance form and to pay a deposit to secure the place.
Once you have accepted a place there are further opportunities to visit the school to ensure that your daughter or son begins her or his career at St Andrews confidently.
