Bursaries and Payment Options

Making School Fees Affordable

Bursary Awards Scheme

The Governors of St. Andrew’s School are committed to broadening access and providing opportunities at the School by offering to eligible parents/guardians means-tested financial support towards the payment of school fees.

Such support is known as a Bursary Award and may be awarded in the form of a discount of up to 100% on tuition fees, depending on the financial circumstances of applicants.

Bursary Awards are subject to verification and are reassessed annually. Awards are made on the basis of the School’s scale of awards, which sets out award levels in relation to a family’s financial circumstances.

The value of the Bursary award will depend on parental income and assets and the funds available. The scale of Awards is reviewed and revised annually by the Governors to reflect any changes in fee costs, and is approved by the Governors. Financing is through a limited fund set each year by the Governors.

  • New prospective applicants to the School where parents/guardians are unable to fund the tuition fees.
  • Existing pupils where a major change in parents’/guardians’ circumstances has resulted in difficulty in meeting tuition fees and may result in the child being withdrawn part way through a stage of education.

Awards are given at the Discretion of the Award’s Committee. The School will endeavour to help as many families as possible and therefore full fee bursaries are relatively rare. Not all applications will necessarily be successful.

To find out more about the factors that we consider in awarding a Bursary plus what is involved in the application process please contact the Financial controller, Mrs Rita Gibb, on 01234 267272 or rgibb@standrewsschoolbedford.com.

Pay School Fees Monthly

Many parents, especially those who are new to independent school education, find that the traditional way in which independent schools ask for payment, a termly bill, does not fit with their family budget, which is often calculated monthly.

The cost of education at St Andrew’s can be paid monthly, so fitting more naturally with monthly budgets.

The facility is operated by Holmwoods Termtime Collections, HTC. It lets you pay your fees in monthly instalments. To use this facility you will need to complete an application form and return it to the Financial controller, Mrs Rita Gibb.

Please contact Mrs Gibb for further details and the application form.
