Outcomes

Your daughter will leave St Andrew’s at the end of Year 11, having exceeded her academic expectations.

Students in full uniform

Girls achieve excellent GCSE results across all nineteen subjects taught and leave St Andrew’s reaching standards that almost always exceed their expectations when they join us.

Our ‘Value-added’ scores at GCSE consistently place St Andrew’s as one of the very highest achieving schools in Bedfordshire and is evidence that girls of all abilities and talents flourish and of the quality and commitment of the teaching staff.

The excellent achievement at GCSE allows girls to study at competitive entry Sixth Forms. Typically Year 11 leavers go on to study AS and A level subjects in Sixth Forms belonging to local Bedfordshire Upper Schools or Independent Schools, although some decide to opt for specialist Sixth Form College provision – again pursuing AS/A levels or more vocational based courses leading to the award of qualifications relevant to their chosen profession.

After the age of 18, most former St Andrew’s students will proceed to University, or in some cases to specialised professional Performing Arts Schools and Colleges. St Andrew’s girls go on to achieve success in a wide range of professions and occupations, such as Medicine, Physiotherapy and Law.

Katherine Walker went to Redborne School after St Andrew’s, and is now studying medicine at Warwick University, having been accepted for a commission in the Navy in 2010.

Elinor Collett studied at the Guildford School of Acting and has starred in the West End, taking the the leading role in ‘The Woman in White’ by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Sarah Kier, after achieving top grades at GCSE, studied Drama, History and Art at Sharnbrook Upper School, gaining three A grades in her A levels. She is now studying Scenic Art at the London Central School of Speech and Drama. After only one year her designs have been used by the National Youth Theatre and the National Theatre.

Stephanie Gammon served as Head Girl and then joined the Sixth Form at Bedford Modern School, studying Music, History and Geography. Stephanie is now at Leeds University reading Music.

In all cases these successful young women say that, not only were their higher education and employment aspirations fully supported and encouraged by excellent careers advice, but that St Andrew’s nurtured their hopes and dreams by treating them as individuals, giving them the freedom and confidence to achieve much more than just academic qualifications.
